What is NextGen Coxing?

NextGen Coxing (NGC) is an AI-powered development platform for coxswains. It was built by a former representative coxswain and coxing coach to give cox real feedback every session, not just after race day. It includes CoxIQ recording analysis, a free GPS speed coach, the Coxswain Academy and progress tracking.

Who is NGC for?

Coxswains at any level, from school and club cox to rep crews, plus the coaches who work with them.

Does NGC replace a coach?

No. It gives you consistent, objective feedback between coaching sessions so the time you do have with a coach goes further.

The problem we solve

What problem does NextGen Coxing solve?

Feedback for coxswains gets lost before it starts. Coxswains record entire sessions, hours of audio at a time, and then someone has to find the time to listen and reply. NGC fixes that by scoring every recording you analyse automatically against the same criteria.

Why do coxswains get so little feedback?

The process breaks down at every step. Recordings run for hours, the coach is asked to find the time to listen and reply, and the recording gets forgotten or buried under every other one. The feedback that does come is patchy and varies with who has time, so the coxswain often hears nothing.

How does NextGen Coxing close that gap?

With NGC you record every session and each recording you analyse is scored automatically against the same criteria, so feedback is consistent and doesn't depend on anyone finding the time to listen. Your results are tracked over time in one place.

CoxIQ

What is CoxIQ?

CoxIQ is NGC's AI recording analysis. You record your session, it transcribes your calls and scores them across six weighted metrics: Call Clarity (20%), Follow-up Effectiveness (20%), Technical Accuracy (20%), Authority (15%), Crew Engagement (15%) and Call Timing (10%).

How does CoxIQ work?

Record or upload a session in the app, CoxIQ turns your voice into a transcript, picks out your calls and scores how clearly, accurately and effectively you coxed. Then you get a debrief.

What do I get in my CoxIQ debrief?

An overall score out of 10 with the weighted breakdown shown, plus a reason for each metric, your strengths, specific calls to improve with better versions, your call mix and any repeated corrections. You can listen back to the audio, read the transcript and download it as a PDF.

How is CoxIQ different from a generic AI score?

It's built around coxing specifically, by a former cox, using a framework weighted toward what actually moves a crew: clear calls, accurate technical instruction and following up on corrections.

Pricing and plans

How much does NGC cost?

NGC is free to start, and premium is $4.99 AUD per month. The free plan includes 1 CoxIQ recording analysis per month, the GPS speed coach and a preview of each Coxswain Academy section. Premium unlocks the full app.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New sign-ups automatically get 14 days of premium, no credit card needed. We remind you before it ends, and if you don't subscribe you drop to the free plan. You can also subscribe straight away instead.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Premium is billed monthly with no lock-in, and you can cancel any time from your account's subscription page.

What devices does NGC work on?

NGC works in your browser at nextgencoxing.com on phone, tablet or computer.

What is the GPS speed coach?

It uses your phone's GPS to show live boat speed and split per 500 m, along with stroke rate, distance, time and strokes. It's free on every plan, no login needed.

What is the Coxswain Academy?

Coxing lessons across five pillars: foundations, communication, navigation, management and race strategy. Free users see a preview of each section; premium unlocks everything.

What does a coxswain do?

A coxswain (cox) steers the boat, runs the race plan, calls the technical and motivational commands, and acts as the coach in the boat.

How do I become a better coxswain?

Get feedback on your actual calls, and practise the fundamentals: clear communication, steering, race planning and keeping the crew composed. CoxIQ analyses your calls and the Coxswain Academy teaches the skills.

Can schools and rowing clubs use NGC?
